Description

A quick and flavorful Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl featuring savory ground beef sautéed with colorful bell peppers and onions, tossed in a delicious Asian-inspired sauce, and served over a bed of warm rice. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

To Serve

  • 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • Sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  2. Sauté the vegetables: Add the sliced red and green bell peppers, sliced onion, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 4 to 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still crisp.
  3. Add sauces and seasonings: Stir in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to allow the sauce to evenly coat the beef and vegetables and to heat through.
  4. Serve: Divide 3 cups of cooked white or brown rice among bowls, then spoon the beef and pepper mixture on top. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes during cooking.
  • Ground beef can be substituted with ground turkey or thinly sliced steak for variation.
  • Use brown rice or cauliflower rice for a lighter or lower-carb option.
  • Ensure that soy, hoisin, and oyster sauces are gluten-free if you need a gluten-free meal.
