Description

This homemade Big Mac recipe brings the iconic fast-food favorite right into your kitchen with fresh ingredients and a deliciously creamy Big Mac sauce. Featuring two juicy beef patties, melted American cheese, crisp iceberg lettuce, tangy pickles, and a special sauce sandwiched between three toasted sesame seed buns, it’s the perfect way to satisfy your burger craving with a classic American taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Buns and Patties

  • 2 sesame seed hamburger buns (one top, one bottom, and one additional bottom bun)
  • 2 beef patties (1/8 lb each)
  • Butter or oil for toasting buns

Vegetables and Cheese

  • 1/4 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 2 dill pickle slices
  • 1 slice American cheese

Seasonings and Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Big Mac sauce (see notes)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Toast the Buns: Toast all three bun pieces (top, bottom, and the extra bottom bun for the middle layer) in a skillet or on a griddle with a bit of butter until they are golden and slightly crispy, enhancing the flavor and texture of the sandwich.
  2. Cook the Patties: Season the beef patties evenly with salt and pepper. Place them on a hot skillet or griddle and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until they are browned on the outside and cooked through, ensuring juicy and flavorful beef.
  3. Spread the Sauce: Apply Big Mac sauce generously on the inside of the bottom bun and the middle bun to infuse the sandwich with the signature tangy and creamy flavor that defines the Big Mac.
  4. Assemble the Bottom Layer: On the bottom bun, layer half of the chopped onions and half of the shredded lettuce, then add a slice of American cheese followed by one cooked beef patty to build the first hearty layer of the sandwich.
  5. Build the Middle Layer: Place the middle bun on top of the assembled bottom layer. Add the remaining onions, lettuce, and the dill pickle slices, then top with the second beef patty for the sandwich’s second substantial layer.
  6. Finish and Serve: Complete the sandwich by placing the top bun on the stack. Press down gently to hold everything together and serve the Big Mac immediately while warm and fresh.

Notes

  • For the Big Mac sauce, mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons relish, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1 teaspoon white vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Prepare it ahead of time to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Use soft burger buns to replicate the classic fast-food texture.
  • You can adjust the seasoning on the beef patties according to your taste preferences.
  • Serve immediately for the best experience with warm patties and toasted buns.
