Description

These Burrata and Steak Crostini combine creamy, fresh burrata cheese with tender, medium-rare steak slices atop crispy toasted baguette rounds. Finished with fresh herbs and a touch of crushed red pepper, these elegant appetizers are perfect for entertaining or a luxurious snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crostini

  • 1 large baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Topping

  • 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into small pieces
  • 1 medium steak (about 10 oz), cooked to medium-rare and thinly sliced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives or parsley, chopped
  • Optional: Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for toasting the baguette slices.
  2. Prepare Baguette: Brush the baguette slices with olive oil on both sides to ensure they become golden and crisp when toasted. Arrange them on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  3. Toast Baguette: Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the slices for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through to brown both sides evenly until they are golden and crisp.
  4. Cook Steak: While the baguette toasts, season the steak generously with salt and black pepper. Heat a skillet over high heat and sear the steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side to achieve medium-rare doneness. Remove from heat and allow the steak to rest to retain juices, then slice it thinly.
  5. Assemble Crostini: Top each toasted baguette slice with a spoonful of torn burrata cheese, then place a slice of the thinly sliced steak on top.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle the crostini with freshly chopped chives or parsley and, if desired, a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.
  7. Serve: Serve the crostini immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp to enjoy the full texture and flavor contrast.

Notes

  • Use a crusty baguette for the best texture contrast with the creamy burrata and tender steak.
  • For steak doneness, medium-rare is recommended for tenderness and flavor, but cook to your preference.
  • To save time, steak can be grilled instead of pan-seared.
  • Fresh herbs can be substituted or omitted based on preference.
  • Serve immediately to prevent the crostini from becoming soggy.
