Ingredients
Scale
For the Crostini
- 1 large baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Topping
- 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into small pieces
- 1 medium steak (about 10 oz), cooked to medium-rare and thinly sliced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives or parsley, chopped
- Optional: Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for toasting the baguette slices.
- Prepare Baguette: Brush the baguette slices with olive oil on both sides to ensure they become golden and crisp when toasted. Arrange them on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Toast Baguette: Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the slices for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through to brown both sides evenly until they are golden and crisp.
- Cook Steak: While the baguette toasts, season the steak generously with salt and black pepper. Heat a skillet over high heat and sear the steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side to achieve medium-rare doneness. Remove from heat and allow the steak to rest to retain juices, then slice it thinly.
- Assemble Crostini: Top each toasted baguette slice with a spoonful of torn burrata cheese, then place a slice of the thinly sliced steak on top.
- Garnish: Sprinkle the crostini with freshly chopped chives or parsley and, if desired, a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.
- Serve: Serve the crostini immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp to enjoy the full texture and flavor contrast.
Notes
- Use a crusty baguette for the best texture contrast with the creamy burrata and tender steak.
- For steak doneness, medium-rare is recommended for tenderness and flavor, but cook to your preference.
- To save time, steak can be grilled instead of pan-seared.
- Fresh herbs can be substituted or omitted based on preference.
- Serve immediately to prevent the crostini from becoming soggy.
