Ingredients
Scale
Meatloaf
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Glaze
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix Meatloaf Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are just combined, taking care not to overmix to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Shape Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape it evenly into a loaf form.
- Prepare and Apply Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and brown sugar until well combined. Spread half of this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake Meatloaf: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes. After that, remove it from the oven, apply the remaining glaze over the top, then return the meatloaf to bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/71°C).
- Rest and Serve: Once done, let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices and makes slicing easier. Serve warm.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh breadcrumbs for a lighter texture or panko for added crunch.
- You can substitute ground beef with a mix of ground beef and pork for extra flavor.
- Feel free to add chopped bell peppers or fresh herbs like parsley to the meat mix for added taste.
- Ensure the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F to be safely cooked.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
