Ingredients
Scale
Slider Components
- 1 pack King’s Hawaiian rolls (12-count)
- 6 hot dogs, sliced lengthwise
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or blend)
- 1–1½ cups chili (homemade or canned)
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- Yellow mustard (to taste)
Buttery Herb Topping
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried chopped chives
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders evenly.
- Prepare Rolls: Carefully slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the middle, keeping all the rolls connected to form a sandwich-style slab. Spread yellow mustard evenly on both the cut sides of the rolls for added tang and flavor.
- Layer Cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese evenly over the bottom half of the rolls to create a cheesy base layer.
- Add Hot Dogs: Lay the hot dog halves lengthwise side-by-side across the cheese layer on the rolls.
- Top with Chili and Onion: Spoon 1 to 1½ cups of chili evenly over the hot dogs, then sprinkle additional shredded cheese and diced red onions on top to add richness and texture.
- Close Sliders: Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls back over the layered fillings to enclose the sliders.
- Prepare Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, mix melted unsalted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried chopped chives. Brush this flavorful mixture generously over the top of the slider rolls to enhance browning and taste.
- Bake Covered: Cover the sliders loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the sliders are heated through, and the tops have a light golden finish.
Notes
- You can use either homemade chili or your favorite canned chili to save time.
- If you prefer spicier sliders, add some diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the chili layer.
- Make sure not to separate the rolls completely to help maintain the sliders’ structure while baking and serving.
- For an even cheesier experience, add extra shredded cheese between layers.
- These sliders can be prepared in advance, then baked just before serving to keep them fresh.
