Description

Start your day with a comforting bowl of Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal topped with caramelized apples and toasted walnuts. This hearty and wholesome breakfast is a perfect blend of sweet, nutty, and spiced flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Oatmeal:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or water (or a mix)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Caramelized Apples:

  • 2 apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for apples)

Additional:

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts (toasted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra maple syrup for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Oatmeal: In a medium saucepan, bring milk or water to a boil. Stir in oats, cinnamon, salt, and maple syrup or brown sugar. Reduce heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and creamy.
  2. Caramelized Apples: While the oats cook, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sauté for 5–6 minutes, stirring often, until the apples are golden, soft, and caramelized. Stir in vanilla extract during the last 30 seconds of cooking.
  3. Serve: To serve, spoon oatmeal into bowls and top with caramelized apples and toasted walnuts. Drizzle with extra maple syrup if desired and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use honeycrisp or granny smith apples for a nice balance of sweetness and tartness.
  • You can use pecans or almonds instead of walnuts.
  • For extra creaminess, stir a splash of cream or nut milk into the oats before serving.
