Description

Cupid’s Love Pies are charming, heart-shaped mini hand pies filled with a creamy cream cheese filling and a sweet dollop of strawberry jam, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any romantic occasion. These delightful treats feature a flaky, golden-brown crust, topped with a sprinkle of coarse sugar and an optional drizzle of melted white chocolate or pink candy melts for an extra festive touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)

Filling

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam (or raspberry jam)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping and Finishing

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar or sanding sugar (optional, for topping)
  • 1/4 cup melted white chocolate or pink candy melts (optional, for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Cut Pie Crusts: Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out an even number of heart shapes from the dough.
  3. Make Filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the filling is smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble Pies: Place half of the heart-shaped dough cutouts on the prepared baking sheet. Spread a small amount of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each heart, then top with 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam.
  5. Seal Pies: Brush the edges of the hearts with the beaten egg wash. Place the remaining heart cutouts on top, aligning them to cover the filling completely. Press the edges together with a fork to seal the pies and prevent filling leakage.
  6. Finish and Bake: Brush the tops of the pies with more egg wash, then sprinkle with the optional coarse sugar for added texture and sparkle. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until the pies are golden brown.
  7. Cool and Decorate: Allow the pies to cool slightly on the baking sheet. If desired, drizzle melted white chocolate or pink candy melts over the tops for a pretty and festive finish.

Notes

  • These mini pies are perfect for Valentine’s Day or romantic occasions.
  • Instead of strawberry jam, try filling with chocolate hazelnut spread or cherry preserves for variety.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
