Cake:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1 cup Dr Pepper Cherry soda
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries (plus extra for garnish)
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Mix the cake: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, Dr Pepper Cherry soda, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Add cherries: Gently fold in the chopped maraschino cherries. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30–35 minutes.
- Make the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, cherry juice, and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the cooled cake and top with cherries.

- For a deeper cherry flavor, replace the soda with Dr Pepper Cherry Concentrate or add cherry extract.
