Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
Decorations
- 10 oz green candy melts
- 3 oz black candy melts
- Royal icing eyes
- Black jimmies sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the dish. Butter a 9″ x 13″ casserole dish thoroughly to prevent the treats from sticking.
- Melt the butter. In a large pot over low to medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter until fully liquid.
- Add marshmallows. Stir in 10 ounces of mini marshmallows and continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and completely melted.
- Mix in cereal. Remove from heat and gradually add 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal, stirring gently to coat all the cereal evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
- Press into dish. Transfer the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and press it down firmly and evenly. Allow it to set for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Cut treats. Once the mixture has fully cooled and set, cut it into rectangles to form individual treats.
- Decorate treats. Melt 10 ounces of green candy melts. Dip the top of each rectangle into the melted green candy coating, then immediately sprinkle black jimmies sprinkles on top while the coating is still wet.
- Add details. Attach royal icing eyes onto each treat and pipe stitch marks using melted black candy melts to create the signature Frankenstein look.
Notes
- Ensure to stir marshmallows constantly to prevent burning.
- If green candy melts are unavailable, you may substitute with green colored white chocolate chips.
- Work quickly when dipping and sprinkling as candy melts harden fast.
- Use a butter knife or non-stick spray to help press the crispy mixture evenly into the dish.
- Store treats in an airtight container to maintain freshness up to 3 days.
