Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Marinade
- 1 pound sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Cooking Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon garlic butter (or regular butter with minced garlic)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Vegetables
- 1 zucchini, sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 onion, sliced
Rice and Eggs
- 2 cups cooked jasmine or fried rice
- 2 eggs, scrambled
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for rice)
Toppings and Garnish
- 1/4 cup yum yum sauce (for topping)
- Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, toss the steak cubes with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderness.
- Sear the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or flat griddle over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak cubes and sear them for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Stir in 1 tablespoon garlic butter and continue cooking until the steak reaches your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced zucchini, mushrooms, and onions. Sauté for 5–6 minutes until they become tender-crisp and develop a light caramelization, adding a rich flavor to the dish.
- Scramble the Eggs: Clear a space in the skillet or use a separate pan to scramble the 2 eggs until fully cooked but still moist.
- Combine Rice and Eggs: Add the cooked jasmine or fried rice to the eggs in the skillet. Stir in 1 tablespoon soy sauce, mixing thoroughly to combine all ingredients and heat the rice through.
- Assemble the Bowls: Divide the rice and egg mixture among serving bowls. Top each bowl with sautéed vegetables and hibachi steak. Drizzle with 1/4 cup yum yum sauce and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired for added flavor and visual appeal.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken or shrimp for the steak if preferred.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of mirin or sake to the steak during cooking.
