Description

Honey Glazed Carrots are a simple and delicious side dish featuring tender carrots sautéed and cooked in a buttery honey glaze with a touch of brown sugar and warm cinnamon. Perfect for holidays or any meal, these sweet and savory carrots are easy to prepare and beautifully garnished with fresh parsley.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb carrots, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Carrots: Peel the carrots and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds to ensure even cooking and tender texture.
  2. Melt Butter: In a large skillet or sauté pan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat to create a rich cooking base for the carrots.
  3. Sauté Carrots: Add the sliced carrots to the pan and sauté for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften but still retain slight firmness.
  4. Add Sweeteners and Spices: Stir in the honey, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and cinnamon if using. Mix well so the carrots are evenly coated with the sweet glaze.
  5. Simmer with Cover: Cover the pan and cook for another 10–12 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. This allows the carrots to become tender and the glaze to thicken nicely.
  6. Coat Evenly and Garnish: Remove the pan from heat and toss the carrots to ensure they’re fully coated in the glaze. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of orange juice to the glaze for a citrusy twist or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a subtle spicy kick.
  • Baby carrots can be used as a convenient substitute; adjust cooking time accordingly to achieve desired tenderness.
