Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado
Instructions
- Slice the Avocado: Slice the avocado lengthwise until you feel the knife hit the pit. Turn the avocado on its side and spin it around while continuing to cut it in half with the knife, surrounding the pit evenly.
- Separate the Halves: Twist the two halves in opposite directions to separate them once the avocado is completely cut down the center.
- Remove the Pit: Carefully hit the pit with the blade of your knife so it sticks into the pit. Rotate the knife gently to loosen the pit, then lift it out.
- Discard the Pit: Remove the pit from the knife by pressing it gently from the blunt side with your thumb and pointer finger until it dislodges.
- Slice or Scoop the Flesh: Using a knife, make slices or dice marks in the avocado flesh without cutting through the skin. Alternatively, use a spoon to scoop out the avocado flesh from the skin based on your recipe needs.
- Serve or Use as Desired: Your avocado halves or cubes are now ready to be served immediately or added to your favorite dish.
Notes
- Choose a ripe avocado that yields slightly to gentle pressure for easier cutting.
- Handle the knife carefully when removing the pit to avoid injury.
- If you don’t want to cut the flesh with the knife, simply scoop it with a spoon.
- Use the avocado immediately to prevent browning or sprinkle lemon juice to slow discoloration.
