Slider Components
- 12 slider rolls or small dinner rolls, sliced in half
- ¾ pound sliced roasted turkey breast
- 8 slices cooked bacon, cut in half
- 2 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
Cheese Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- â…› teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1½ cups shredded sharp white cheddar cheese (divided)
Topping
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking the sliders.
- Make the Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of whole milk and add ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ⅛ teaspoon black pepper. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it slightly thickens, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese and half of the shredded cheddar cheese (¾ cup). Remove from heat and set aside.
- Assemble the Sliders: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Lay the bottom halves of the slider rolls evenly in the dish. Layer the roasted turkey slices over the rolls, followed by thin slices of Roma tomatoes and the halved cooked bacon pieces.
- Add Cheese Sauce and Cheese: Spoon the warm cheese sauce evenly over the layered ingredients. Sprinkle the remaining ¾ cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese on top.
- Top the Sliders: Place the top halves of the slider rolls over the filling layers to cover.
- Brush with Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons melted butter with ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard and ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls to enhance browning and flavor.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the cheese sauce to heat through.
- Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley over the sliders if desired. Serve warm for the best taste.
Notes
- For quicker preparation, use store-bought cheese sauce instead of making your own.
- These sliders are perfect for game day or Derby parties and can be assembled a few hours ahead of time and baked just before serving.
