Description

These savory Mountain Meatballs are a hearty and flavorful dish perfect for a comforting dinner. Made with a blend of ground beef and pork, these meatballs are cooked in a rich barbecue sauce for a delicious meal that pairs well with mashed potatoes or pasta.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—do not overmix. Shape into meatballs.
  2. Brown Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet, brown meatballs in batches for 5-6 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Sauce: In the skillet, whisk together beef broth, barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard, and brown sugar. Simmer.
  4. Combine and Simmer: Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20–25 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Serve: Spoon extra sauce over the meatballs and serve hot.

Notes

  • These meatballs are delicious served over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
  • Feel free to use all ground beef if preferred, but the pork adds great flavor.
  • You can freeze extras for a quick meal option.
