  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest until fully combined.
  3. Prepare the dough: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cardamom. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a dough forms.
  4. Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Roll the dough balls in additional sugar if desired. Place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
