Cookie Dough:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest until fully combined.
- Prepare the dough: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cardamom. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a dough forms.
- Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Roll the dough balls in additional sugar if desired. Place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
