Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced ripe peaches (about 5 medium peaches), peeled and pitted
- â…“ cup granulated sugar (adjust based on sweetness of peaches)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
Optional Flavorings
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chopped fresh mint
Instructions
- Peel and Slice Peaches: If using fresh peaches, blanch them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then immediately place them in an ice bath to loosen the skins for easy peeling. Once peeled, slice and pit the peaches.
- Blend Ingredients: Add the peeled peach slices, sugar, lemon juice, and water into a blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture is entirely smooth. Taste and add more sugar if desired for sweetness.
- Strain for Smoothness: For an ultra-smooth sorbet texture, pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp or coarse bits before freezing.
- Freeze the Mixture: Transfer the strained mixture into a freezer-safe container. Freeze for 3 to 4 hours, stirring once or twice during the first hour to break up any forming ice crystals, then allow it to freeze solid.
- Serve Softened Sorbet: Before serving, let the sorbet thaw at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes to soften slightly. Scoop and enjoy as is or garnish with optional vanilla extract or chopped fresh mint for added flavor.
Notes
- Blanching peaches helps to easily remove skins without losing fruit integrity.
- Adjust sugar amount depending on the natural sweetness of your peaches to taste.
- Stirring early during freezing prevents a grainy texture by reducing ice crystal size.
- This sorbet is best consumed within a week for optimal flavor and texture.
- Optional vanilla extract or fresh mint can enhance or vary the flavor profile.
