Ingredients
Scale
Beef Roast
- 3–4 pound beef roast (such as top sirloin or chuck)
Seasoning Paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Other Ingredients
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) to prepare for roasting the beef.
- Prepare Herb Paste: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, black pepper, and onion powder to create a flavorful herb paste.
- Season the Beef: Pat the beef roast dry thoroughly with paper towels. Rub the herb paste all over the surface of the beef to evenly coat it.
- Set Up for Roasting: Place the seasoned beef roast on a rack inside a roasting pan, then pour 1 cup of beef broth into the bottom of the pan to keep the meat moist during cooking.
- Sear the Roast: Roast the beef in the preheated oven at 450°F for 15 minutes to sear the outside and develop a rich crust.
- Continue Roasting: Lower the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting the beef for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness: 135°F for medium-rare or 145°F for medium.
- Rest the Meat: Remove the roast from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 15–20 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
- Slice and Serve: After resting, slice the beef roast against the grain and serve warm for a delicious meal.
Notes
- Letting the roast rest before slicing helps keep it juicy and tender.
- For extra flavor and a complete meal, add carrots, onions, and potatoes to the roasting pan.
- Adjust cooking time based on the size and type of the beef roast to achieve your preferred doneness.
