Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Dairy
- 2 breakfast sausage links
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
Bread
- 4 soft sandwich rolls
Seasonings and Garnish
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the sausage.
- Cook the sausage: Place the breakfast sausage links in the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and fully cooked through, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Set sausage aside: Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside on a plate to cool slightly.
- Slice or crumble sausage: Once cooled, slice the sausage links into small rounds or crumble them, depending on your preference.
- Melt butter: In the same skillet, add the tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt, swirling the pan to coat it evenly.
- Prepare egg mixture: While the butter is melting, crack the eggs into a medium bowl.
- Season eggs: Add the milk, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt to the eggs, then whisk the mixture until it’s well combined and slightly frothy.
- Cook eggs: Pour the egg mixture into the skillet with the melted butter.
- Scramble gently: Cook the eggs over medium-low heat, stirring gently and occasionally with a spatula, until they start to set but are still slightly runny.
- Add sausage to eggs: At this point, add the sliced or crumbled sausage back into the skillet with the eggs.
- Finish cooking eggs and sausage: Continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the eggs are fully cooked through and the sausage is heated.
- Remove from heat and add cheese: Once done, remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Melt cheese: Let the residual heat melt the cheese into the egg and sausage mixture, stirring gently to combine.
- Prepare rolls: Meanwhile, slice the sandwich rolls in half, making sure not to cut all the way through so halves remain attached.
- Toast rolls: Lightly toast the sandwich rolls in a toaster or on a separate skillet until they are golden brown and warm.
- Assemble rolls: Spoon the sausage and egg mixture generously onto the bottom half of each toasted sandwich roll.
- Add garnish: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the mixture for a touch of color and freshness.
- Close and serve: Top each with the other half of the sandwich roll.
- Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy your hearty sausage and egg breakfast rolls.
Notes
- You can customize the seasoning by adding more or less black pepper or garlic powder according to your taste.
- For a spicier kick, consider adding some chopped jalapeños or hot sauce to the egg mixture.
- Using freshly baked rolls or bread can elevate the flavor and texture of the breakfast rolls.
- These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be wrapped and refrigerated for up to 2 days; reheat gently before serving.
- Substitute cheddar cheese with your preferred cheese, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, for variety.
