Description

This simple and delicious sautéed green beans recipe features tender-crisp green beans cooked with butter and flavorful seasonings. Ready in just 20 minutes, it makes a perfect side dish to complement any meal with its buttery, garlicky taste and easy preparation.

Ingredients

Scale

Green Beans

  • 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed

Seasonings & Cooking

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil water: Add the water to a skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, preparing for the green beans to cook.
  2. Cook green beans: Once the water is bubbling, add the trimmed green beans and cover the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp, adjusting cooking time slightly if you prefer softer beans.
  3. Drain water: Carefully drain the water from the skillet, leaving only the green beans inside.
  4. Return to heat: Place the skillet back on the stove over medium heat to prepare for sautéing.
  5. Add butter and seasonings: Add the butter to the beans, then sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss the beans well using tongs or two spoons for about a minute until evenly coated and heated through. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Trim green bean ends before cooking for the best texture.
  • Adjust cooking time if you prefer beans softer than tender-crisp.
  • Use fresh or frozen green beans, but fresh is recommended for best flavor and texture.
  • For a lighter version, substitute butter with olive oil.
  • Feel free to add freshly minced garlic instead of garlic powder for additional flavor.
