Ingredients
Scale
Green Beans
- 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
Seasonings & Cooking
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil water: Add the water to a skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, preparing for the green beans to cook.
- Cook green beans: Once the water is bubbling, add the trimmed green beans and cover the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp, adjusting cooking time slightly if you prefer softer beans.
- Drain water: Carefully drain the water from the skillet, leaving only the green beans inside.
- Return to heat: Place the skillet back on the stove over medium heat to prepare for sautéing.
- Add butter and seasonings: Add the butter to the beans, then sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss the beans well using tongs or two spoons for about a minute until evenly coated and heated through. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Trim green bean ends before cooking for the best texture.
- Adjust cooking time if you prefer beans softer than tender-crisp.
- Use fresh or frozen green beans, but fresh is recommended for best flavor and texture.
- For a lighter version, substitute butter with olive oil.
- Feel free to add freshly minced garlic instead of garlic powder for additional flavor.
