Ingredients
Scale
Cake Batter
- 15.25 oz devil’s food cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Toppings & Filling
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup caramel topping, plus extra for drizzling
- 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed
- 3 Heath bars, chopped
- Chocolate sauce (for drizzling, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the devil’s food cake mix, eggs, water, and melted butter. Mix thoroughly until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Pour the prepared batter into the slow cooker and spread it evenly to form a smooth layer.
- Cook the Cake: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on high heat for 2 hours. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking to ensure even baking.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Caramel: After cooking, use the end of a spoon to poke holes all over the cake’s surface. Pour the sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup caramel topping evenly over the holes, allowing the liquids to seep into the cake for added moisture and flavor.
- Cool and Chill: Let the cake cool down to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight to let the flavors meld and the cake to firm up.
- Finish with Toppings: Once chilled, spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly over the cake’s surface. Sprinkle the chopped Heath bars generously on top and drizzle additional caramel and chocolate sauce as desired.
- Serve: Serve the cake warm or cold by scooping out portions with a serving spoon. Enjoy the rich, creamy, and textured layers in every bite.
Notes
- Do not lift the slow cooker lid during cooking to maintain even heat and proper cooking.
- Chilling the cake overnight improves texture and flavor absorption.
- For added decadence, drizzle warm chocolate sauce along with caramel before serving.
- Use a nonstick spray specifically designed for slow cookers to avoid sticking.
- The cake can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
