Description

These Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Twists are a delightful blend of flaky puff pastry filled with a savory mixture of spinach, ricotta, and cheeses, twisted to perfection and baked until golden. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, these twists are sure to be a hit at any gathering.

Puff Pastry:

1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

Spinach Mixture:

1 cup fresh spinach (chopped), 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 garlic clove (minced), 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon olive oil

Additional:

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash), sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare Spinach Mixture: Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté garlic, add spinach, cook until wilted. Remove, cool slightly, then mix with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Assemble: Roll out puff pastry, spread spinach and cheese mixture over half, cover with the other half, press gently to seal. Slice into strips, twist, and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake: Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle seeds if desired, bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve: Serve warm.

  • You can substitute feta for ricotta for a tangier flavor.
