Description

Delight in these festive Sugar Cookie Truffles, a no-bake treat combining crushed sugar cookies and cream cheese with a luscious white chocolate coating. Perfect for holiday gatherings, these creamy, sweet truffles are easy to make and decorated with colorful sprinkles for a cheerful finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Mixture

  • 12 large sugar cookies
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 Tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Coating

  • 12 oz white chocolate chips
  • 1-2 Tablespoons shortening
  • Holiday Nonpareils Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare cookie crumbs: Place the sugar cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are finely chopped into crumbs.
  2. Make the cream cheese mixture: In a separate bowl, beat together the softened butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Combine cookie crumbs and frosting: Add half a cup of the cream cheese mixture to the crushed cookies in the food processor and pulse until well combined.
  4. Adjust consistency: Check the mixture by squeezing some together; continue adding cream cheese mixture little by little until the cookie crumbs hold together well but are not sticky or wet.
  5. Form balls: Shape the mixture into small truffle-sized balls and place them on parchment paper.
  6. Chill: Freeze the formed balls for 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Melt chocolate coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips and shortening. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, then continue heating in 15-second increments, stirring until smooth and melted. Be cautious not to overheat.
  8. Dip truffles: Remove the chilled balls from the freezer. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each truffle into the melted white chocolate, rolling to coat completely. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  9. Set truffles: Place coated truffles on parchment paper to harden.
  10. Add sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle holiday nonpareils on top before the chocolate sets.
  11. Serve: Once set, the truffles peel easily from parchment and are ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese and butter are softened to reach the right frosting consistency.
  • If mixture is too dry, add a bit more of the cream cheese mixture; if too wet, add more cookie crumbs.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking during chilling and dipping.
  • The shortening in the chocolate helps create a smooth, glossy coating and easier dipping.
  • Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
