Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Sauce
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
Bowls and Garnishes
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 cup steamed broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Add Aromatics. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger into the skillet with the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
- Simmer the Sauce with Beef. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the cooked beef. Stir well to combine and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef.
- Assemble the Bowls. Divide the cooked white rice evenly into serving bowls. Top each bowl with the teriyaki beef mixture, steamed broccoli florets, shredded carrots, and sliced green onions. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if using.
- Serve Warm. Serve the teriyaki beef bowls warm for a comforting and flavorful meal.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken to make a lighter version of the dish.
- Add sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce for extra heat and spiciness.
- Frozen mixed vegetables can be used instead of fresh broccoli and carrots for convenience.
