Description

A classic and refreshing Waldorf Salad combining crisp apples, juicy grapes, crunchy celery, and walnuts, all tossed in a creamy mayonnaise dressing with a touch of sweetness and tang. Perfect as a light lunch or a vibrant side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Dressing

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Salad

  • 3 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 cup seedless grapes, halved
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, white sugar, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Set aside while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
  2. Prepare the apples: Core and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Immediately toss the chopped apples with lemon juice in a large bowl to help prevent browning and add a fresh tangy note to the salad.
  3. Combine salad ingredients: Add the halved grapes, chopped celery, chopped walnuts, and raisins (if using) to the bowl with the apples. Stir gently until all ingredients are well distributed.
  4. Add dressing: Pour the prepared mayonnaise dressing over the fruit and nut mixture. Stir gently until all the ingredients are evenly coated in the dressing.
  5. Chill and serve: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the Waldorf Salad until ready to serve. For the best flavor and texture, serve chilled and enjoy within a day of preparation.

Notes

  • For extra crunch and flavor, toast the walnuts lightly before adding.
  • Raisins are optional but add a nice sweet contrast to the salad.
  • To keep the salad fresh, prepare right before serving or within a few hours.
  • This salad can be made vegan by substituting the mayonnaise with a plant-based alternative.
