Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint candies
- White sanding sugar (optional, for sparkle)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening and seasoning.
- Cream Butter and Sugars. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla. Beat in the eggs one at a time to maintain the emulsion, followed by the vanilla extract, ensuring everything is thoroughly combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently just until incorporated to avoid overworking the dough and keeping the cookies tender.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips and Sprinkles. Carefully fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and the holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint candies to disperse them evenly throughout the dough.
- Portion Dough. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading during baking. Optionally, sprinkle a little white sanding sugar on top of each cookie for a festive sparkle.
- Bake. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers remain soft and slightly underbaked for a chewy texture.
- Cool Cookies. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to firm up slightly before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to achieve thicker cookies with less spread.
- For extra texture and flavor, consider adding festive M&Ms, mini marshmallows, or chopped nuts into the dough.
- These cookies make excellent holiday gifts and freeze well when stored properly.
